Growth Cycle of Your Eyelashes

  • SHARE:

Lashes have a life cycle consisting of three phases: the growth phase (anagen), the degradation phase (catagen) and the resting phase (telogen). After the telogen phase, the lash falls out and the life cycle begins again with a new lash in the anagen phase!

ANAGEN

GROWTH PHASE

Lashes grow to their full length and can make the most of your lash serum’s nourishing ingredients to lengthen and strength your natural lashes! This phase usually lasts from 4-6 weeks.

CATAGEN

TRANSITION PHASE

The eyelash stops growing, but it’s not yet ready to shed and start the lash cycle anew. If an eyelash is pulled out in this stage, the lash cycle is disrupted and the follicle will take even longer to grow back, and that’s if the hair follicle isn’t permanently damaged. This phase lasts around 2-3 weeks.

TELOGEN

RESTING PHASE

The hair has stopped growing and it’s preparing to shed, starting the growth cycle again. This phase can last up to 3 months.

In summary, lash shedding is a very normal part of a healthy eyelash cycle. Prolonging lash life with healthy eyelash follicles should be an important part of your beauty routine!
